October Swell 18,2006 : Wow! Best swell of the summer...did I say summer? Well,...best South swell of 2006!Too bad the best wave conditions, clean 3 to 5 ft plus sets, were in the early morning hours.Later in the day onshore beezes kept the sizeable sets in the rough but still rideable conditions.Soft trades, convection breezes and continuous storm fronts led to some very interesting sky formations.
Aloha,
Doug

October 20,2006 : These photos were taken on the morning of the third day of waves from storms firing off the coast of Australia .Six days is the travel time for waves to reach Hawaii from the Tasman Sea.It is unusual for waves to be had so late in the southern shore surf season. But these power-filled liquid pulses are still very welcome by the Nalu riders of Hawaii.
This swell continues as the best of the 2006 summer season.
Aloha,Doug.

October 21,2006.Saturday : Out-of-season South swell continues as another Antarctic born swell reaches the South shores of the Hawaiian Islands.Heights up to 6ft faces were consistent in the afternoon a day earlier but slowed down to 4to5ft+ faces throughout the evening and then into the morning's line-up.The returning off-shore trades helped to improve the slowly dropping surf conditions.
